January 5, 2006:
Ice Cup: Bonspiel Committee
formed, more details getting clear

The Ice Cup committee for 2006 has been working for some time, coming up with more and more details as time passes. Event manager is Haraldur Inólfsson, working with committee members Árni Arason, Davíð Valsson and Ólafur Númason.

As you probably know already Ice Cup will be held April 27-30. Thursday night, April 27, players are invited to an opening party, then curling on Friday and Saturday, plus Sunday for top teams. Final dinner will be either on Saturday or Sunday night. Apart from all this, be prepared for some unexpected fun in the Icelandic way. More details will be posted on the website as time passes and the fun gets closer.

Tournament fee will be 18.000 Icelandic Kronas per team, including dinner for four players at the final party. Dinner fee for non-curlers or fifth player hasn't been decided yet.

Curling will start at Friday morning, likely around 8:30 a.m. and go on until 7 p.m. The same goes for Saturday. Every team will be guaranteed four games and the top teams (yet to be decided how many) will play 5 or 6 games as they will enter playoffs on Sunday. More accurate system of play and game plan will not be decided until we know how many teams will enter the bonspiel. The aim is to get as many or more teams than last year when we had 16, but no more than 24 teams.
