Ice Cup: More Slovakians coming!

With about three weeks to go before end of registration for Ice Cup bonspiel in April we still have three foreign teams on our list, hoping for more of course. For a while the number was four but dropped to three again. We are sure though that we will have more teams signing up in the next weeks. With teams from Akureyri and Reykjavik we are aiming at minimum 16 teams.

The bad news, caused by good news actually, is that unfortunately team Margarita Switzerland has had to cancel due to wedding plans of Margarita founder, Chris Robinson. Curling.is wishes Chris and his wife all the best. Of course they could just come to Iceland get married here and then play in Ice Cup as a sort of honeymoon! If that doesn't work Ice Cup and Akureyri is of course ideal for anniversary celebration in the future for Chris and his wife (who's name I don't remember, I am sorry).

The good news is that recently a team from Bratislava, yes another team from Slovakia, made contact and announced its participation in Ice Cup. This is Airport Bratislava BTS consisting og skip Milan Kajan, viceskip Frantisek Pitonak, Boris Kutka and Rene Petko. That means that we now have two Slovakian teams, because Team Bratislava CC has already signed up along with a mix of Dutch/Danish team consisting of Ben Wiegers, Allan Ploug and Reinier (who's last name we forgot).
