Ice Cup: Back to Iceland after 50 years

The skip of a team coming from Cape Cod in Massachusetts likely qualifies as a friend of Iceland (a very much used phrase when famous people even glance towards the country).

Bob Ottaviano, a member of Cape Cod Curling Club, was stationed in Iceland some fifty years ago. He is very excited to come to Iceland again and see all the changes that have taken place in the last fifty years. Together with his wife, Rita, and another couple, Russ Lemcke and Meg Becker, they call themselves The Curling Coddlers.

Bob and Rita have been curling for thirty years. She was born and raised in Maine and he near New York. They have been living in Falmouth Massachusetts for at least 25 years.

Meg Becker and Russ Lemcke have been curling for about six years in Falmouth. Russ actually learned how to curl when he was a kid but took a break for 45 years before he started curling again six years ago. Meg comes from Ohio initially but Russ was born in Canada. In the photo Bob and Rita are to the left but Meg and Russ to the right.

The team reglularly takes part in bonspiels and last september they went to Prague and had a lot of fun there. Cape Cod Curling Club has 250 members and a curling arena with three sheets.
