October 13th, 2003:
Curling practice:
Canadian takeover
Curling
practice earlier tonight turned into an unofficial competition between
Iceland and Canada. We were honoured by a visit of a group of eight people
(seven Canadians, from the foreign ministry, military and etc, and one
Icelandic employee of the Canadian Embassy
in Reykjavik). They were a part of the group travelling with the Canadian
Governor in her visit to Iceland. Our guests formed two teams, to play
against two teams of local
players.
To cut a long story short: Akureyri 2 - Canada 0. To give our guests the
benefit of the doubt we are happy to report that some of them were playing curling for the first time and
furthermore those who have played curling are not used to play on a skating ice.
Very nice visit, hopefully both for us and our guests! Photo: Canadian group

Club.
